Ethiopia in Minnesota

Last friday I had the most unique coffee shop experience I have ever had at Limu.

When I walked into this Ethiopian coffee shop I didn’t know how authentic it really was until the owner told me she would take my order but then she had to leave to pick up her daughter from school. She told me I was free to stay and enjoy my coffee and that she would lock the door on the way out. So she left and myself and the other customers stayed and a few new people tried to come in while she was gone but I let them wonder why the door was locked.

I can almost guarantee that the Jimmy John’s next door would never do such a thing nor would most any other North American small businesses! I think we need more of this kind of trust in our communities and businesses. The kind that makes you feel like you are a trusted member of the community and not merely a consumer.
