I’m reading Proverbs in the mornings now.
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Prov 4:23)
Vigilant. What a good word. My computer dictionary says:
“If you’re vigilant, you are watchful for a purpose (: to be vigilant in the presence of one’s enemies), and wary suggests being on the lookout for treachery or trickery (: wary of his neighbor’s motives in offering to move the fence).
Lord, make me vigilant and watchful for a purpose, looking out for the treachery and trickery of my own heart today. Cause me to trust you and treasure you with my whole heart.
