David prays in Ps.141 “Do not let my heart incline to any evil…”
The Hebrew for “incline” is the idea of turning, moving in another direction, to swerve. My heart does just that. Moving, turning, swerving this way and that way like a drunk trying to walk a straight line. This is a very practical and deep prayer. It gets to the core of who we are - hitting the things that we desire and love that move our hearts.
David confesses he swerves towards evil calls on the grace of God.How often do I pray similar prayers? How much less would my heart swerve towards sin if I prayed with David?
Thank God for prayers like this and a Savior who answers them with His grace! May our hearts be moved and inclined with passionate love for Christ!
