On Gen 2:1-3:
“There is a difference between people being the focus of the narrative and people being the center of creation. Theologically, we have often moved too easily from one to the other. People are in one sense in the center of this text, but people are not the center of the cosmos. To say that God has set the cosmos up to function for our convenience and given us high standing in it is not the same as saying God has created everything for us.â€
