Shawnda and I watched Ushpizin last night and I really enjoyed it for a number of reasons. One of which was the window it gives into Jewish tradition and the faith of the Jews. It was beautiful.
One scene that stood out to me is where the wife shares these words that make you feel as though she must be talking to her husband but the camera slowly pans out and you realize she is praying to God.
“I have to tell you:
You’re sweet…
righteous…
beloved…
I’m just crazy about you.”
An incredible picture of the kind of intimacy that God loves. Throughout the movie the main characters relationship with God is striking and inspiring - especially for those who not only know God the Father but also know the Messiah! If you have seen Ushpizin or do see it down the road let me know what you think. I would especially love to hear from anyone who is Jewish about how they portrayed this couple and their faith.
