I heard on the radio this morning that President Bush made statements yesterday about imposing sanctions on the government of Sudan in order to stop the genocide in Darfur. This is after 4 years of the genocide happening and being known.
I am guilty of not doing much even terms of praying so I’m not going to touch on why it has taken so long. I need to deal with that personally first.
I am thankful though that someone like the President is making these statements (even if they are just statements for now) and the situation is being made known to more and more people for what it is. I pray that effective action on behalf of the people of Darfur will increase and put an end to the genocide.
I would love to hear what you know of the situation and what you think we can do as the church in America on their behalf besides praying so that this ends sooner than later. Though I am stirred to pray hard today.
Update: Jonathan links to a great site Save Darfur that points to various resources and ways we can get involved.
