Have you ever wondered what Jesus was like as a two year old? Did he go through the terrible twos? Imagine Mary bringing two-and-a-half year old Jesus to church this Sunday. How would he relate to the other children in the nursery? How would he respond in worship? How would he act when halfway through the service he gets really hungry and realizes Mary forgot the Goldfish?
I’ve been thinking about the reality of the incarnation today and though much is beyond our comprehension I am encouraged by what we can know with certainty; namely, that in the incarnation our Holy, Infinite God has condescended to us in such a manner that we, sinful man, might actually and truly know Him in the person of Christ. This is incredible and has implications for all of life, redemption, and eternity. There is much to say and meditate on here. I hope to spend more time thinking here, especially the implications the incarnation has on the Gospel. Much of this is being stocked by T.F. Torrence on the hypostatic union! I will write more thoughts as they come and time allows.

I love T.F. Torrance! God has used his books (particularly The Mediation of Christ) to grow my understanding of the gospel more than any other resource out there. I look forward to your future posts.

I’m encouraged by the distinction between apprehension = truly knowing, and comprehension = fully knowing; and the humbling reality that we will apprehend but never comprehend b/c we are finite and He is infinite!
